Merge Duplicate Files

Lesson Summary

1. Merging Purpose: Use the merge function to manage duplicate files while keeping metadata and playlist placement.
2. Track Selection: Highlight or multi-select all tracks that need to be merged by holding shift and selecting from the first to the last track.
3. Merge Option: A menu with the merge option will appear at the bottom of the screen.
4. Metadata Review: Click through each file in the merge area to review and select the best metadata, usually from an MP3 file.
5. High-Res Audio Selection: Choose the high-resolution audio file, like a WAV or AIFF, to keep.
6. Merging Process: Click the "merge tracks" button to combine the selected files, removing duplicates.
7. Playlist Retention: The merged track will retain its position in all the playlists the original tracks were in.
8. Simplified Management: This process streamlines the management of duplicate files in DISCO, making it easier to maintain a clean and organized library.
