Un-Sync Any Existing Box Folders
Before you do anything, log in to your Box account
- Check for any existing synced folders from the left sidebar Synced menu.
- Make sure that no folders are currently set to Sync.
- UnSync from the folder menu.
Set up the Box Sync App
- Attach a large hard drive to your computer with plenty of free space (you do not want to max out the hard drive capacity halfway through a sync).
- Download the Box Sync app.
- Log in to the Box Sync app.
- Choose the location of the Box download folder on the new Hard Drive.
- You should NOT sync to your computer incase you run out of space.
Select Folders to Sync
- Return to the Box website and find the folders you’d like to sync
- Open the Folder menu > more actions
- Select "Sync":
- Open the Box Sync App.
- Double check that the download location is set to your external hard drive and that it has more than enough available space.
- Change your computer energy settings to never sleep.
When you leave your computer, you might want to turn the screen brightness down to the lowest setting.
Start Syncing
Depending on the size of the download, you can expect the sync to take days.
Always pause the sync before disconnecting a hard drive or shutting down your computer.
After the Sync has Completed
- Once the sync is completed, pause the sync.
- Log out of the Box Sync App and close it completely.
- Check that the Box Sync App has not reopened if you reboot your computer.
- Once you are sure Box Sync is closed, return to the Box website and un-sync the folders.
- If the app is not closed and you un-sync the folders, they will all start to disappear from your hard drive!
Now you are ready to start the DISCO Uploader app and import the synced Box folders from your hard drive into DISCO!
Make sure the Box Sync app is closed when you upload to DISCO from your Hard Drive.
