The Discovery Suite Ecosystem
In this article, you'll learn about DISCO’s Discovery Suite ecosystem, which includes a range of powerful features:
- Auto-Tagging
- Similarity Search
- Instant Instrumentals
- DISCO Catalogs
- Music Supervisor Discovery Feed
1. Auto-Tagging
Our AI technology analyzes audio and adds industry-standard, descriptive and categorized tags (genre, instrumentation, mood, feel, etc) to make tracks easily discoverable.
In addition to audio wave-form analysis, the DISCO AI can generate Lyrical theme tags by analyzing lyrics present in the track metadata.
- Learn how to use the AI Auto-Tagger to effortlessly tag your music.
2. Similarity Search
Similarity Search is an AI feature that analyzes and compares audio to find similar-sounding tracks.
This feature is particularly useful for large catalogs responding to requests for a specific sound, within a quick turnaround time.
To use Similarity Search:
- Paste a YouTube link into the search bar to return soundalike tracks from your own catalog.
- Each result produces similar tracks in the next column.
3. Instant Instrumentals
An instrumental version of a main track with vocals can be generated by DISCO's AI in less than a minute!
- Tracks must be auto-tagged by DISCO's AI before the instrumental generation will work.
- Open the track menu and select "Instant Instrumental"
- The newly created track will appear nested under the main version
4. DISCO Catalogs (previously Libraries)
DISCO Catalogs let you curate a searchable micro-site with content from your DISCO.
With DISCO Catalogs, your clients can easily browse through curated picks to pull/download from your catalog and create playlists of their own.
5. Music Supervisor Discovery Feed
Every Music Supervisor DISCO account has access to the Discover Music area, where they can find and access hundreds of opted-in DISCO Catalogs.
- Opt-in your Catalog to the Discover Music area from its CMS settings.
DISCO Account vs DISCO Catalog?
DISCO accounts and DISCO Catalogs are often confused!
Here's the breakdown:
DISCO Accounts
- Your DISCO account is defined by its URL, i.e. https://mycompany.disco.ac.
- That is where you and your team, who are “users,” can log in to access and upload files, organize, build, and share playlists, manage contacts, send emails, etc.
- Only your team can access the content inside your DISCO account.
- Your DISCO account has a set of features and quotas defined by your base plan subscription.
Music Supervisors, or anyone else for that matter, cannot find your DISCO account or search the music inside it.
DISCO Catalogs
- A DISCO Catalog is a feature inside your DISCO account and comes with the Discovery Suite.
- Each DISCO Catalog is curated (by you and/or your team) with specific content so that clients can search through your music on their own time, using their own search parameters.
- A DISCO Catalog can be opted-in to the Discovery feed, which is accessible inside verified Music Supervisor DISCO accounts.
Music Supervisors can only access your DISCO Catalog if you invite them, or opt in to the Discovery feed.

DISCO Catalogs FAQ
Learn to build Catalogs in this article.
What are DISCO Catalogs?
- DISCO Catalogs let you present music to clients in an intuitive, searchable interface. Simply invite clients to search your Catalog and find what they need, when they need it.
- Top Music Supervisors around the world trust DISCO to receive music. With DISCO Catalogs, it just got even easier. Supervisors can browse your Catalog and save your music straight to their DISCO or download.
Can clients access my Catalog without a login?
- If you set your Catalog to public, anyone with the Catalog URL can browse and stream on the Catalog, but only authorized, logged-in users will be able to download the tracks, save them to DISCO, and create playlists.
- If you set your Catalog to private, only logged-in users will be able to access the Catalog. If someone else somehow accessed the Catalog URL, they would only see a log in page.
How customizable is the Catalog design?
- You can add your own logo and hero image, and customize the main Catalog colour. You can also add artist images and bios, as well as playlist cover images. We’ve deliberately kept the experience consistent for supervisors to be able to find the tracks they’re looking for across DISCO Catalogs quickly.
Where do I manage metadata and tags?
- Metadata and tags can be managed on the main track metadata edit area in your DISCO. Any changes to metadata are reflected in your Catalogs.
Is Sim Search available in Catalogs?
- No.
Can I create multiple Catalogs?
- Yes. Your Discovery Suite track quota will be shared collectively between Catalogs. 1 track can be in 10 Catalogs, and that counts as 1 track toward your quota.
How do I add artists to my Catalog?
- Artist profiles only appear on a Catalog once tracks have been added that contain the artist name in the artist metadata field.
Which audio formats are available for clients to access?
- Clients can access all formats associated with your tracks. You can, however, limit download access to MP3s only using the Catalog Settings.
Are Catalogs stats and analytics available?

If a supervisor/recipient of the Catalog URL does not have DISCO, can they still search, stream, and download music?
- Yes! Anyone you grant access to your Catalog can access it, whether they have DISCO or not.
My music isn't tagged, can you help me?
- We can! As part of your Discovery Suite subscription, you can tag your music with our auto-tagging.

- Discovery Suite subscribers can opt in to have their Catalogs discoverable by Music Supervisors.
Who will have access to view my Catalog?

Auto-Tagging FAQ
Learn about Auto-tagging in this article.
What is the benefit of using DISCO’s auto-tagging?
- Tagging is time-consuming and laborious. As multiple people become involved in the process, it’s hard to keep tags and definitions consistent. DISCO’s auto-tags are crowd-sourced from our users in sync, and are based on everyday industry vocabulary.
- You can be confident that the consistency and quality of DISCO’s auto-tags will improve your colleagues’ and your clients’ discovery experience.
- Other services provide broad keywords and static, one-time tagging features that require you to export and import into your music. DISCO’s auto-tags are seamlessly integrated into the way you work every day – no CSV imports required.
How does auto-tagging work?
- We trained our model by collecting keywords and tags most commonly used by Music Supervisors and sync teams. Our tags cover the key reference points in briefs and music discovery: genre, tempo, mood/feel, type, vocals, instrumentation, and BPM.
How does Sim Search work?
- Sim Search is a major time-saving feature that allows you to compare the most similar-sounding tracks to in your DISCO. It also lets you enter reference track links from YouTube and Soundcloud, and returns the most similar tracks from your catalog. Only auto-tagged tracks are included in the results.
If I remove tracks from the auto-tagged tracks area in the sidebar, will it remove the auto-tags from these tracks and reduce the number of tracks that count toward the quota?
- No, the auto-tagged tracks area is only used as a trigger to send tracks to the AI for analysis. The tracks do not need to remain in there to retain the connection to the AI, and remain auto-tagged.
- Learn about removing auto-tags here.
Do you offer a one time auto-tag of my music (without maintaining a subscription)?
- We don’t offer one-time bulk tagging for two reasons:
- The tags are not static; the AI constantly learns new vocabulary as tags are manually added and removed. New tags will be applied automatically as the AI learns new tags and/or improves its accuracy with existing tags.
- Sim Search requires continuous integration with the AI. When you paste a reference YouTube or Soundcloud link into the search bar, it is sent to the AI to scan for similar tracks in your catalog. Only auto-tagged tracks are included in the results.
Can I cancel my Discovery Suite subscription?
- Yes, you can cancel your Discovery Suite subscription at any time. When you do, your DISCO Catalogs will be unpublished and the auto-tags will be removed.
How can I search the tags?
- Searching through tags is easy. Use the main search bar or click on tags appended to your tracks to filter your Catalog.
Can I export my tags?
- Yep! Just reach out to our Support Team, who will provide you with a spreadsheet and instructions on how to proceed.
What if there’s a tag that’s not accurate?
- Hover over the tag and click the “X” to remove it. The AI system learns as tags are added and removed to improve accuracy. Removed tags will never be added back to the same track in the future.
Can I see which tags are mine and which ones are AI-generated?
- Not at the moment.
Can clients/receivers see the tags?
- Tags can be written to the Comments metadata field as the track is downloaded or sent to another DISCO. This setting is controlled in Business Settings by account Admins.
- Note, iTunes cuts off the Comments field at 250 characters (DISCO does not).
Will the AI overwrite or remove any existing tags?
- No, the AI will not overwrite or remove any tags you’ve manually added. It can, however, change existing tags that the AI has populated for a couple of reasons.
Firstly, if we release an updated tagging model, it might need to change existing tags to improve accuracy.
- In addition, we occasionally remove AI-generated tags from our tagging schema. (You will be advised if a tag has been removed.)
Can I add my own tags?
- Absolutely! Include additional tags by selecting the tag icon displayed below. Select from tags in our provided tagging schema, or add new ones by going to Settings > Tags.
Can I add my own custom tags for the AI to learn?
- The AI learns as you remove and add new tags, and we’re always looking for new, relevant tags to train the AI. Over time, the tags our AI returns will expand, and these will automatically be applied to your tracks as appropriate.
- The AI will not learn to recognize and add custom tags until our team gathers enough data to train it accurately.
How long does it take for tags to appear when I add new songs?
- Anywhere from 10 seconds to a few minutes. The auto-tagging channel is scanned every 5 minutes, and new uploads are tagged immediately.
What happens when I reach my auto-tagging track limit?
- Additional tracks will no longer be tagged. Contact our Support Team to upgrade your quota.
I don’t want my entire catalog tagged. Can I pick and choose songs for auto-tagging?
- Yes! Only songs added to the auto-tagging area in the left hand navigation area will be tagged.
Where can I view my tagging quota?
- Your auto-tagging quota is visible in the auto-tagged tracks area. If this is not visible to you, please contact Support to make it visible.
Pricing and Subscription Information:
- Discovery Suite, which includes auto-tagging and DISCO Catalogs is a paid add-on in addition to your DISCO base subscription.
- Payment frequency must match the base plan, i.e. monthly or annual.
