Playlist Tags

Playlist tags are similar to track tags - they are searchable, can be color-coded, and allow you to find all items tagged with the same terms.

How to Approach Tagging Playlists

Playlist tags are a secret weapon for organization and time saving in DISCO. With playlist tagging, you can tag a set of playlists instead of adding them all to a Channel folder (which is a way of grouping them together). Later, when you want to work with a set of playlists, just open advanced search and fill in the playlist tag filter.

Playlist tags also optimize reports.

Common Use Cases for Playlist Tags

  • Creative descriptions of  tracks
  • Ease of clearance ("one stop" vs "do not pitch")
  • Team member favorites (color indicators help, too)
  • Project names associated with playlists
  • Seasons and episodes (if you are a music supervisor)
  • Reporting details - territory, media type, company name, etc.

Adding Playlist Tags

Select a playlist to open in the next column. Playlist tags can be added at the top of the column.

  • Select the tag icon above the tracks:
highlight the add playlist tag button
  • Create new tags:

  • Or search/select existing playlist tags:

Editing Playlist Tags & Adding Color

Playlist tags can be updated after creation. You may, for example, need to change how the tag is written, fix a spelling mistake, or add a color indicator.

To Edit Playlist Tags:

  • Open Settings & Account (from top-right corner avatar) > Playlist Tags:

  • Alternatively, open the Add Playlist Tag area and select "Manage Tags":

  • Find the playlist tag and open the menu to the right.

Tags Connect Playlists

Use playlist tags to instantly access all playlists created for a specific job or client.

  1. Create a playlist tag for a specific job - in this case we are working on a search for a bank advertisement.
  2. Add the "Bank Name" playlist tag to each relevant playlist.
  3. Open Advanced Search and filter by the playlist tag assigned to that job.
  4. Select "Playlists" at the bottom (this removes tracks from the search results).
  • Example Search settings:
Advanced search filters with playlist tag selected plus the playlists filter
  • Search Results include all playlists relevant to the bank-specific job with yellow tags:
