How to Replace Audio & Manage Files

DISCO allows you to replace existing files with alternate versions, rather than having to first delete them and then replace them with new ones. This ensures that tracks retain their existing metadata as well as placements in playlists and Channels.

Updating Existing MP3 Audio with WAV Audio

After the WAV uploads, an option will pop up to create a new MP3 copy of the track, replacing  the existing MP3.

  • This is a smart option to take when the new uploaded WAV has different audio than the original MP3.
Once the new MP3 is created, it cannot be undone.

When NOT to Replace Existing MP3 Audio

Some companies master their MP3s for best streaming playback quality.

  • In this scenario, the DISCO-generated MP3 won’t sound quite as good as the mastered MP3.
  • Best practice is to keep the mastered MP3 instead of replacing it with the one generated from the WAV file.

Uncheck the box (below) - but double check that the WAV is the same audio version as the MP3!
